Christmas Projection Mapping at the Venetian Las Vegas | Grand Canal Shops

3D projection mapping can transform regular surfaces into optical illusions. This technology uses architecture or objects as a digital canvas. Video mapping can be used on a single object or a complete 360 room. It’s a powerful medium that fully engages guests and creates a totally unique event unlike any other. The powerful technology uses augmented reality (AR) and projection video mapping to create a fully immersive experience for event guests.

Custom digital content was created and arranged perfectly to go with each song. During “Here Comes Santa Clause,” Santa was seen dancing festively across the building. Another classic tune (and Lumen & Forge favourite), “Jingle Bells”, had adorable gingerbread men dancing in windows, appearing as though they were truly dancing in in the building. The fun, festive Christmas projection mapping visuals were video mapped across the entire front of the face of the building, fulling immersing the audience members. Those who witnessed the spectacular, joyous event left- young and old- were seen grinning ear to ear, truly in awe and full of holiday spirit.

Streetmosphere, a free experience offered by The Venetian, allows guests to experience Italy without leaving Las Vegas! Classically trained opera singers, stilt walkers, and jugglers dazzle the public with free shows around the clock. To celebrate the holiday season, we Lumen and Forge created a 17 minute holiday-themed projection mapping show for Streetmosphere, transforming the St. Mark’s Clock Tower with custom made motion graphics mapped across the entire surface of the building.

The joyful visuals were timed perfectly to live music. Christmas classics such as “All I want for Christmas” were given a new spin by an harmonious Pop opera group accompanied by two violinists and two guitarists. The holiday tunes were given new life, mixed with contemporary rhythms and sung in Italian. This one-of-a-kind show brought an Italian Christmas flair, sharing a “vacanaze” holiday with guests to make them feel as though they were magically transported to Venice. The enchanted cobblestone streets emanated the Christmas spirit, bringing a truly unique experience to guests of all age

The Christmas themed projection mapping show featured an array of festive characters, vibrant animations and patterns including the 12 Days of Christmas. A wide variety of special effects included shimmering stars, twinkling lights, snowflakes, falling leaves and even Santa Claus himself! Everything was running on a Lumen & Forge custom media server, with all processing done in advance so that running the show involved nothing more than the press of a button.

Christmas video shows can add another festive element to any holiday event. By working with a 32k lumen 4K Christie Boxer projector, along with their custom media server, Lumen & Forge was able to animate the Clock Tower and turn it into an immersive guest experience, bringing the magic of Christmas to life!
